“Hi I’m Fergus. I’ve been interested in art all my life, however at high school the opportunity that NCEA art provided allowed me to focus on art much more. I enjoy using different mediums to create dynamic paintings that demonstrate varying techniques to use the paint. I hope you enjoy my work!

My 2019 work is about exploring ideas around culture.”

In the 2018 work, I have tried to push the boundaries of colour and the effect it can have on the subject matter. My main goal was to utilize these colours to remove the violent connotations that come with the image of a gun. I really enjoyed creating this mish-mash of artist influences and styles, resulting in a chaotic collage of colour. This piece was a real experiment for me and has continued to influence my paintings for 2019.
